Why China?

Why did we decide to adopt from China? We truly feel that God has directed us down this path to our daughter. We have been married for 8 years and the journey to parenthood has been much longer and more complex than we ever imagined. In February of 2005 we attended an International Adoption Seminar at a local church. It was very emotional as families shared the experiences that led them to adoption and the joy it has brought to their lives. We both felt very clearly and strongly that this was God's plan for our family and we were so excited! We immediately began researching adoption. As we did our research we learned that China has had a very stable international adoption program for over 10 years. The girls are typically very healthy and under a year old. On the emotional side, I found myself wondering anytime I saw an Asian child-"Is that what our daughter will look like?" By May of 2005 we were ready to begin the process and haven't looked back since. :)

Introduction

We hope that this site will help keep our family and friends updated as we continue the journey to adopt our daughter from China. We are currently in the long wait phase of the process and do not expect to be matched before November of this year. We will travel to China to get our daughter 6-8 weeks after we are matched. The process could move faster or it could take longer. We would be thrilled if it was sooner, but we realize that this is in God's hands and that He has already chosen our daughter and we just have to wait on His timing. Until then, there is plenty to do as we prepare to be first time parents....
